Based on years of experience teaching and writing supplemental materials for more traditional precalculus texts, Reva Narasimhan takes a functions-focused approach to teaching and learning algebra and trigonometry concepts. This new text embodies Sullivan/Sullivan’s hallmarks —  accuracy, precision, depth, strong student support, and abundant exercises while exposing students early (Chapter One) to the study of functions and taking a right triangle approach to trigonometry. "IT WORKS" for instructors and students because it focuses students on the fundamentals: preparing for class, practicing their homework, and reviewing. After completing the book, students will be prepared to handle the algebra found in subsequent courses such as finite mathematics, business mathematics, and engineering calculus and will have a solid understanding of the concept of a function.

Maybe it's because the instructor covers dissimilar material, but the book sucks compared to other math books I've had in the past. It gives you a few examples in each section and that's it. It doesn't explain thoroughly enough for me to understand. I suppose you don't really have a choice in using this textbook, but just know what to expect.
